Post Requirements

• Explorers must be between the ages of 14 and 21 and an active student in some form of formal education (high school, home school, college enrollment). Students applying to the Explorer Post during their 8th grade year must be on track to successfully complete the 8th grade, and must turn 14 on or before May 31st of the current year. Unfortunately, students turning 14 on or after June 1st are not eligible to apply until the following cycle due to age requirements for the Summer Academy.


• Explorers must maintain a minimum 2.5 grade point average.


• Explorers must be free of any serious criminal record and pass a background check.


• Explorers must be willing to be an active member in ride-alongs.


• Explorers must maintain a minimum participation of 16 hours per month.
